Grandparents Day

For Grandparents Day, our school had a magnificent concert for some grandparents to watch. Everyone was smiling, and their smiles were like flowers blooming. The talent involved in the concert were dance, marimba, PI, & choir. I enjoyed watching them all, because they were equally amazing. We also had a morning tea with our grandparents, where we could show our learning while having some delicious food. Sadly mine weren't able to come, so I talked to other people's grandparents instead and had lots of the food. Some grandparents could even go to the hall and there would be some lovely coffee and tea for them. How nice of the school! Grandparents Day was a huge day, and I sure did love celebrating it.

Social Justice Day 2018

To celebrate social justice day, my awesome class made some custom T-shirts related to social justice day. Each of them had an inspirational quote, and mine was "Helping one person might not change the whole world, but it could change the world for one person."

My Speech

Reflection: I think that I did really well trying to do my goal, (using a wider range of punctuation), but I really think I should work on the way I delivered my speech. I think I talked too fast, and really quietly. So, I'll improve on that.

Reading Goals Update/Reflection

Well, I think I'd still like to work on my goal a bit more. I think that I sometimes overthink what the author says and I think I take it too literally. So, I'm going to keep working on my goal. :)

Binary Code

Today I used binary code to spell out my name. The pink is the black, and the green is the white. I found it very fun to use binary code, and I'll probably use it at home as well. Below this text, you'll see a picture of my name written out in binary code, and binary code itself underneath that.

Writing Goal Term 3

My Writing Goal is to have better punctuation when I'm writing. I usually use only full stops, capital letters and commas, and I'd like to get into a habit of using more than just 2 types of punctuation to make my writing more interesting to read.
Update: I have accomplished my goal, and my brand new goal is to use better language, basically making my voice louder, controlling how fast it goes, changing the pitch for certain parts, etc.

Update In Term 4: My old writing goal has been accomplished. I now use a bigger variety of punctuation, such as exclamation marks, quotation marks, etc. My new writing goal is to have better ideas, that are unique and original. My ideas are usually about the general thing I'm writing about, however I really want to get used to thinking out of the box, and really expressing my writing in a better way.

Writing Goal

I've noticed that in the Camp Thank You Letter Marian and I wrote, for each sentence we started with a noun. Really? I'm a bit disappointed in myself, since I know I could do better than that. Now I know how big of a difference there is when I use different sentence starters, since when I look on my newer pieces of writing, I see that most of my sentences start with all different types, and there's a HUGE difference. Firstly, I'll show you my Camp Thank You Letter, and below that, there will be a newer piece of writing.

My Cross Country

This Monday, I went to Cross Country in the Redwoods. Room 4 did lots of training, our goal was to run 4 laps around the field without stopping, we only had 5 minutes, but we had to put a lot of focus and effort into running those laps. At the day of cross country, Krisha's mom took me, Nyla, Marian, and of course Krisha to the Cross Country. When it was the Year 6 Girls' turn, my heart was beating so fast, I was so excited yet so scared at the same time. As I was running, a lot of sweat was building up my forehead and it was really cold, but I continued running no matter what. There were adults who encouraged me to continue. Even though I was out of breath while running, I couldn't forget my manners so I said thank you every time there were adults who encouraged me. The surface in The Redwoods was very uneven, every time I was going uphill, my knees were killing me! It was almost like there was no end to the track. At one point my shoelaces untied but I just kept running hoping I wouldn't trip over them. Luckily, I didn't and I finished the race successfully.

The Ascension

What is the difference between the Ascension and the Resurrection?

The Resurrection is when Jesus came back to life as a human, you could touch him, talk to him, and he could talk, and he could touch others as well.

Forty days later, that's when Jesus ascended into Heaven, you couldn't touch him anymore, but you could still talk to him through prayer.

Happily, the disciples talked to Jesus after he resurrected, but they were pretty sad to see Jesus ascend into heaven.

My Course 1 Certificate From Code.org

I finally completed the first course in code.org, here's a screenshot of the certificate I got.

My Maths SMART Goal

By the end of this term I want to understand what fractions are bigger/smaller than others because I seem to be having a hard time knowing which ones are smaller or bigger than the other fractions. (Ordering Fractions)

Update: I now know how to order my fractions properly.

My Next Goal: I want to learn how to compute fractions, especially the big fractions.
